June 6, 2018 Visitors & A Clean Bill of Health

Our evening visitor.
Our new sign on our road.

Monday 6/4. My muscles convinced me to take a day off from hard labor.  Our neighbors who have the yurt are up for a few days to work on their outdoor kitchen, trying to dig holes in the rocky soil for a cement foundation.  Not an easy project.  After visiting them, I baked an apple coffee cake for their visit this evening.

I also walked down to our rope gate and found a tree for a new sign (see above).  There are a couple lots for sale in the canyon and the real estate agents don't have a clue about finding their way around Up Here, so we are keeping the rope across the road for a while.

Back home, I made sausage and black bean pancakes for dinner from a recipe in the summer issue of Self-Reliance.  They were delicious!

Our neighbors came up to visit for a couple hours and we had such an enjoyable time.  While they were here, the small buck who comes by every few days in the evening showed up again.

I have come to the realization that with my two brown thumbs I am not a gardener.  I simply am not interested.  The best we can do is care for the tomato plants that Elsie gives us each year.  What a load off my mind.

It was a cool and breezy day with a high of 62.

Tuesday 6/5. It was 53 with clear skies and a breeze this morning.  JB was on his way Down There before 8:30 am for his two doctor appointments, moving around very easily.

The dogs and I walked down to the neighbors around noon to take them some more coffee cake.  They were just starting to haul the 15 bags of cement from their truck down to their camp.  Had another nice visit and invited them to dinner.  They called around 3:00 pm to say they wouldn't be able to come to dinner, but would stop by on their way out tomorrow.

I cleared a swath from fir cones in front of the house and filled another bag.  Will dump them over the south ridge tomorrow.

JB arrived back home close to 4:00 pm with a clean bill of health.  The bone doctor says his knee problem is pseudo gout and will not need an operation.  Next time it acts up, he is to go see the doctor.  They will drain his knee and give him a cortisone shot.  Ouch!  But, for now, he is up and around.  We plan to take down some trees tomorrow.

It was another cool and breezy day with a high of 63.

Wednesday 6/6. It is 49 with partly cloudy skies this morning.  Going to be a busy day.

Thought for the day: Something I would love to say to some people: Wipe your mouth, there is still a tiny bit of bullshit around your lips.
